Disaster Strikes Again…..Game 3
Did anything go right last night? Were you able to see how bad it was?
I don’t know what happened to the St. Louis Blues that we’ve watched all season but this isn’t hockey. Whatever it is isnt worth watching. I stomached that game which was hard to do. This series reminds me of the first road trip the team took of the season. They played uninspired and looked like they were defeated from the get go.
Outside of Chris Stewart who played well? McDonald?
It’s not good when you can’t name but a few players who stood out for the right reasons. Where have Alex Steen, Kevin Shattenkirk and David Backes gone? Even if you throw in the “unmeasurables” they still don’t stand out. This team needs a big kick in the ass but I don’t know where it needs to come from. Backes has gone public with his comments about the team needing to step up and thats big considering how quiet this team typically is in the media.
While I agree that Brian Elliot played poorly and he’d be the first to agree with that but this runs deeper. This isn’t a call for Halak or Allen or Bishop (I’ve heard the bashing of the trade). This team has played a game without having a “superstar” emerge. It was team first and everything else second.
Why haven’t they played like that this series? That’s the million dollar question and if anyone has the answer please call J.D. or Armstrong right away, this team needs that answer and NOW!
I heard an interview with Kelly Chase today talking about how management is watching the team closely to see who is playing hard every night even though the team is on a sinking ship. After hearing that I don’t have a good feeling about some of the fan favorite players coming back.
Why should they? If they can’t even come prepared to play from start to finish, ship them out. I don’t mind losing if the energy, effort and heart is there, but this series doesn’t have any of that. This isn’t like a game 7 OT knockout, a 4 game sweep is likely with the way they’ve played.
All fans want is an honest effort to win and if they lose, oh well. This is in another class by itself and what’s scary is that this has happened in 3 STRAIGHT GAMES. I know the Injury to Pietrangelo and Halak have had an effect on their attitude but guess what? Injuries are part of the game and every team has to deal with them.
That’s not an excuse. It’s placing blame on others and not on themselves. They need to take responsibility for the fact that they’ve played like dogshit this series and figure out why they lost that fire!
One thing about sports is, it’s never over until it’s over. Don’t believe me? Two words, David Freese.
It’s not probable but it’s still possible for the Blues to win. Go ask Halak if it’s possible. He know’s it can happen becasue he’s been there.
If the Blues get swept I’ll be angry and frothy at the mouth for a while and I hope you will be too. As a die hard fan, I’ve invested a signifigant amount of time in this team and I feel cheated right now. If I wasn’t writing this blog, I’d still watch every game and feel the same way. I know a lot of you feel the same way and we have that right.
I hope the players feel just as angry as we do, but I just don’t know if that’s the case. If it is, they have a very funny way of showing it.
