Tonight’s game against Tampa Bay
For those of you going to tonights game, here’s a few things to watch for.
1. Brett Ponich. He’ll be easy to spot, considering he’s 6’7, but the big thing to watch for is his performance. He’s a big, bad tough kid who’s not afraid to get a little nasty. He played 42 games for the Portland Winterhawks before he had knee surgery. This his his first game action since the surgery. He’s a projected top 4 in the NHL, but if his knee doesn’t hold up, obviously he won’t make it.
2. Brian Elliot. It’s a battle of the backups behind Jaro. Ben Bishop and Elliot are going to play full games throughout the preseason to see who can handle the position. The Blues feel It’s Bishop’s to lose, but don’t think for a second that Elliot can’t swing the upset.
3. Look for the kids to play A LOT. The roster is pretty much set except for the 4th line and the backup goalie. The Blues play 5 games in 5 days. AWESOME! But with the roster pretty much set, expect to see the highly touted prospects play a ton of minutes.
4. Don’t look for Stamkos, St. Louis, Lecavalier, or Eric Brewer. They didn’t make the trip, but I’d fully expect them to see the ice for tomorrow nights game in Tampa.
